City of London School for Girls - Project Management and Quantity Surveying
NorthSouth are instructed by the City of London Corporation to act as incumbent project managers and quantity surveyors for all capital works projects associated to the City of London School for Girls (CLSG) for the 2024-2027 academic years. The scope of our appointment will include a range of critical building projects such as external repairs, internal refurbishment and significant service upgrades.
Milby Meadows, Warwickshire
Milby Meadows is part of a 531 unit development at Nuneaton in Warwickshire. NorthSouth Consultants have been appointed as Project Monitor and Independent Cost Consultants for Warwickshire Property Development Group and Countryside to monitor the ongoing development. Our appointment commenced with a value review of the proposed construction and accompanying commentary on infrastructure costs. The first phase comprises 51 units and includes PRS tenures for Sigma Capital Group and affordable housing units for Platform Housing Group.
This low carbon scheme will be delivered via timber frame, has no gas facilities on site and heating and hot water are provided by air source heat pumps augmented with solar PV panels. Car charging is provided to every dwelling and water is attenuated via swales and water courses. Our appointment includes ongoing programme monitoring of cost control and compliance in matters such as planning condition discharges and NHBC approvals.
Good progress is being made on site with the spine road formed, main drainage laid and the first of the units are expected to reach completion in June 2025.
University of Greenwich, Devonport House - External Refurbishment
NorthSouth are appointed to provide multi-disciplinary services for the external refurbishments at Devonport House, located in the heart of Greenwich and within the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our services for this project include building surveying with a focus on heritage, contract administration, and acting as principal designer, all with the goal of preserving the building's historical significance while adhering to modern standards.
V&A Museum - RAAC Appraisal
NorthSouth successfully completed a comprehensive RAAC (Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) review across the Victoria and Albert Museum’s portfolio, encompassing sites in both London and Wiltshire. This important project involved the assessment of significant buildings, including Grade I listed sites and unique structures originally designed during World War II to house high explosives. Our core services for this project included building surveying with a focus on heritage structures.
City of London Corporation, Golden Lane Leisure Centre, Building Fabric, M&E and Renewable Energy Systems Appraisal
The Golden Lane Estate in central London was awarded the RIBA London & National Award in 2019 for its significant influence on post-war housing development. NorthSouth were appointed to carry out an appraisal of the estate’s Grade 2 Listed leisure centre and swimming pool to provide a 20 year Future Maintenance Plan (FMP).
In addition to a review of the centre’s envelope and fabric, the building required a review of the air source heat pumps, plate heat exchangers and 84 solar voltaic panels on the roof. The reports NorthSouth provided included procurement advice on how different work packages might be combined to achieve value and to minimise shut downs and loss of facilities whilst works are in progress. The City of London Corporation are now using this advice in planning their ongoing repair and improvement of this architecturally significant building.
Holy Trinity Brompton and Cromwell Road, Condition Survey for Health and Safety / Fire Upgrades
NorthSouth were appointed to conduct a detailed condition survey of existing emergency lighting systems within Holy Trinity Brompton Church and the HTB offices located within Victorian terraces on Cromwell Road in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
Surveys were undertaken within the ecclesiastical buildings and ancillary areas as well as the commercial office space. Through a robust analysis and floor plan markup we were able to establish areas of improvement within all areas and make recommendations for upgrades and refurbishments which considered heritage and listed building requirements.
Burnham Beeches and Stoke Common, Condition Survey and Forward Maintenance Planning
NorthSouth were appointed to conduct a detailed condition survey of Burnham Beeches and Stoke Common, including residential and commercial buildings as well as key infrastructure across the estate. Our phased approach identified immediate safety priorities alongside longer-term maintenance needs, providing a structured plan for sustaining the estate’s assets over the next 20 years.
Bromley Picturehouse - Defect Diagnosis and Independent Expert Advice
NorthSouth provided an independent survey and report at Bromley Picturehouse to diagnose building defects within the original 1930's structure and adjoining extensions. A detailed review of the structure and defects was provided together with recommendations and costs for remedial works.
